A lot of dieters have questions about the potential side effects of HCG. Most information sources focus on pharmaceutical weight-loss injections or other uses of HCG, such as for fertility or testosterone treatment. Not many address the side effects of oral HCG diet drops, or when they do, they’re just using information that just applies to the injections. Homeopathic HCG drops and prescription-strength injections are not the same with regard to side effects.

What few people seem to realize is that the only side effectsyou're likely to have while taking homeopathic HCG—other than astonishingly fast weight loss—come from the diet changes, not the HCG. This is simply because homeopathic HCG isn't a prescription medication. Instead, it's prepared so that it will have less impact on you while still helping you to lose weight.

Like everyone beginning the HCG diet for the first time, you probably have some huge diet changes ahead. First off you won't be eating any more sugar, fat, or oil, not even a little. Second, you're only getting 500 calories per day by eating—everything else comes from the stored fat your body will be burning up. Even though you'll be receiving the aid of HCG, your body still has some adjusting to do.

Although the body is getting enough of energy from your stored fat that’s being burned, your stomach will often contain much less food than it usually did before. In addition, the food is typically very different from what some dieters are used to.

Here are some of the most common symptoms experienced by HCG dieters:

* When you're on a low-calorie diet, it is expected for bowel movements to occur less frequently, even just one time per 3 or 4 days. This isn’t considered constipation. However, some people do get real constipation. If it happens to you, you can take a mild, sugar-free laxative.

* It's fairly common to have a headache at some point during the first week of the low-calorie diet. Any regular, over-the-counter pain killer can be used to treat it.

* Leg cramps can occasionally occur because of the lack of potassium in the 500-calorie diet. Take potassium supplements to avoid leg cramps.

* Whenever your body burns fat, normal toxins are released into your body and eventually eliminated. Due to the breakneck speed at which you will be burning fat while on the HCG diet, these toxins can build up and cause a minor rash before being eliminated.

* Mild dizziness is not uncommon, but it almost always disappears by the time you get to the second week.

However, if you experience a headache that lasts more than 10 days, or any other side effects that makes you worried, please see a physician.

It's important to remember that most people don't experience any of those side effects, and those who do report that they are usually minor. Most side effects can be handled with easy-to-find medication or supplements. You'll be so happy you persevered when you experience the weight loss every day!
