Rather we realize it or not, posture is a big deal for a professional. Many times people size up a person to decide if they want to do business with them. It is common practice for someone to look for certain clues or characteristics in a person and judge if they are what they say they are. They look at the dress attire, car, and other material possessions. These are what an amateur observer looks for and notice about people with authority and leadership. Although, these things may be present and apparent to any on looker, there is still something more powerful and influential than any material thing. One thing that catches attention more than other symbol is posture. It is the posture of person that really draws people’s attention to them. Posture causes people to respect, follow, and fear another individual. There are many terms used today to describe this thing called posture- sexy, cocky, strong, appeal, swagger, etc. All these terms describe how a person carries themselves and how people perceive them. If there is a posture that you want to portray that will establish success and a healthy reputation, if would be one of congruency in image, confidence, belief, and a winner’s mentality. Let’s start with congruency in image. With all the wealth and opportunity in not only this country, but the world, just about anyone can proclaim themselves as anything they desire. People who are deceiving and greedy realize the power in using the symbols and characteristics above; even if it just for appearance. Then you have those who refuse to use or learn them, but expect to have success. Both are instances of people not being true to what they represent. One manipulates people into believing that they are something they genuinely are not, and the other desires to convince people he is something he doesn’t portray. These are not good examples of congruency. You should always desire to walk your talk, and be a reflection of what you represent or working towards representing. In doing so a person should exemplify confidence. Confidence is key in posture, because it can be seen and felt by others. It is walked out through your conversations, actions, work ethic, and even how you treat others. All this segments into belief, because your belief about yourself and where you are in life will directly affect your confidence. Belief in oneself is essential. You can’t be doubtful and fearful and maintain a good posture. Belief gives you strength even when everything is not going as planned, and it allows you to express optimism in the moment. In the end you have a winner’s mentality; a positive, doubtless optimism that penetrates all that are near. You would seem to walk on air and have a glow, and it would be so strong that people couldn't help but to draw near you. They would want what you have, and desire to be just like you. They would want to know your secret, and hope to catch a hint of what you have. All of this comes from posture. All the other accessories are attention grabbers; shock value so to speak. Therefore don’t put to much focus on that area, or at least not more than you put into developing you posture; which usually comes from the value you feel you possess. If you get too caught up on outer attractions you will be on the verge of congruency violation. Remember posture is all about what is on the inside of you; so develop yourself inside out.
