1. Pre-qualify prospects with your ad copy so you don't have to later!
Your goal is not just to get any and all traffic, it's to get targeted traffic. If the first line of your ad reads, "Are you sick and tired of not being able to pay your bills?", then you will most likely attract people who are having trouble paying their bills and don't have any money to invest in your opportunity. You don't want that! You want people who DO have money to invest and who realize that any entrepreneurial venture requires an investment of time and financial resource. So be sure your ad copy isn't targeting the wrong type of individuals, because if it is it will waste your time. Save time and energy by ensuring that when your prospect calls you, he or she will understand what requirements are involved.
2. Don't be afraid to state the cost of joining your business in your ad (or at least allude to an investment being required.) Of course doing so will lose you some prospects, but they're probably not the prospects you want anyway. Most sophisticated entrepreneurs realize that it takes money to make money. Further, if you do internet marketing right, you will always have enough people to talk to, so you don't have to worry about becoming lead poor if you state the investment cost in your ads. Let your ads do some of the lead sorting for you and watch the prospects that you talk to become more targeted!
3. Don't use hype in your ad copy. Simply put, your goal is to attract smart, savvy people to your opportunity, but smart, savvy people are immediately turned off by hype. Instead of talking about the Ferraris they will drive if they join your business, talk to them about the value you have to offer, and what it is that you will do to help them succeed. Stay away from the glam advertising that the other 97% of marketers lead with, and just focus on adding value.
