Magic for me is that instant recognition of connection, which includes flow, love, compassion, giving and receiving equally, respect, learning, self-awareness, consciousness, peace, solace, silence, creativity, laughter, joy, freedom, balance, gratitude, acknowledgment, simplicity, faith, being OK with the unknown and uncomfortable times, meaning, insight, purpose, and risks.
I turn to my Random House dictionary that it tells me magic is the art of producing a desired result through the forces of nature.
I am constantly reminded through my experiences about the Inuit saying that there’s my plan (my ideas and goals), and there’s the mystery’s plan (great spirit, God, forces of nature, etc). Blending the two worlds together with each day’s activities creates the magic, and the quality of magic are all the words I listed above and many more.
Having a community where you can discuss the feelings, behaviors, thoughts, and actions about your lives gives you time to slow down and celebrate your strengths and gives you support to face your challenges with new insights and ideas that you might not have thought about.
It does take focus, intent, and practice to be able to attain your goals. Because I believe that the spirit world and my daily life are one and the same and not separate, life becomes a spiritual practice. Do I practice? Yes, sometimes, and oh, I forgot; and sometimes for me it is just being in the moment and living. Living, then, I guess could be viewed as practicing. Maybe it all boils down to that my spirit is practicing living. And that to me is MAGIC.
It’s raining outside, and it is days like this that I take the time for reflection. A time to go inward. And maybe, later a long walk, then a good soak in the tub, and finally curl up with a good book, absorbing the experiences of the day. Learning more about enjoying the moments when I am alone.
Two books I have enjoyed reading this winter are The Power of Slow by Christine Louise Hohlbaum (she teaches that no is a complete sentence) and The Biology of Belief: Unleasing the Power of Consciousness, Matter, and Miracles by Bruce H. Lipton. You might find them a good read.
Enjoy the quiet and become accustom to the precious times when you can be with yourself, alone.
