***Promote Yourself Up the Ranks

Here is a great method of self-promotion that I invented to help me feel ‘up’ when I was feeling down and moping around. It’s a great builder of self-esteem. It’s simple. It’s easy. Try it. You’ll love it.

Step 1: When you awaken in the morning – consider yourself “a private” in the service. Instead of calling yourself ‘a private in the army’ call yourself ‘a private in the service of life’.

Step 2: When you do something to help someone today (it doesn’t have to be anything incredible), take a moment and say, “Good job. I’m now a sergeant”. FEEEEL the promotion. Be proud!

Step 3: When you catch yourself making an intelligent choice, and acting on it (in any area of your life), you know what to do. Take a moment and promote yourself to lieutenant. Stand tall. FEEEEL the promotion.

Step 4: When you act kindly toward someone today, for any reason – promotion time. Say, “WOW, I’m now a captain, and it FEEEELS absolutely great.”

Step 5: Don’t stop now. When you go out of your way by ‘going the extra mile’ to get a job done right, make this promotion important to you. You’re now a General! What an achievement. FEEEEL the realness of it.

Step 6: You are now in line for the position of Commander in Chief. Don’t deny it. What will you do to get that promotion? That is entirely up to you. GO FOR IT. I promise you that if you take this exercise seriously, you will feel real good about yourself at the end of the day. What a great way to boost your self-esteem.
