Successful closet organization takes a commitment to not to take short cuts. Every closet starts out organized. At least most closets start out semi-organized. Closets generally become disorganized over time. And generally closets become disorganized because we become a bit lazy. We often tend to shove something in a closet in an ill fated attempt to tidy. We might have guests arriving. We make a quick once over of the house and shove clutter into closets. We think we are making the house more organized or at least look more organized but we are actually doing the exact opposite. By thoughtlessly shoving clutter into closets we are actually disorganizing our house. If we took the extra time to return our belongings to the place they actually belong we would be much further ahead. Often the extra time needed to tidy properly might be less than 10 or 15 minutes. Also people often have a hard time getting rid of belongings. We tend to hold on to our belongings long after they have lost usefulness. We can hoard broken items because there is a possibility that they might be fixable (even though we lack the ability to actually fix the item ourselves). Instead of forcing ourselves to get rid of things we do not really need, we have a tendency to shove this stuff in a closet. We put off making a decision whether to get rid of something by stashing the item out of our sight. Successful small closet organization means that we need to abandon our lazy habits. We need to take the time to tidy our homes properly. Last minute tidying actually makes us disorganized. Plan ahead and tidy your home properly. Furthermore, make a sincere effort to get rid of useless junk. Make the hard decisions when you are presented with them. By putting off the decision to reduce clutter you are making your house less organized. Small closet organization makes your life easier and more efficient. An organized closet system allows you to know where everything is and to access it easily. Life is better when you have organized closets.
