Wouldn't you like to quit smoking today? Quitting smoking can be a difficult task, but you can definitely quit when you know what's expected, you need to find what motivates you, have the social support, and write down a personal plan that you can achieve. Stopping smoking requires determination and commitment, you have to want to quit smoking. The more you learn about your options and prepare yourself for quitting, the easier it will be. Most people smoke because it gives you a comforting and relaxing sensation. There are other ways to achieve these feeling. Some of things you might want to try are exercise, deep breathing exercises, mediation, and getting regular massages are some of the great ways to relieve stress from not smoking. Some other things you might want to try would be finding something you are truly interested in like art, history, music another suggestion would be to join a support group. A support group can be a great thing because there are many other people just like yourself going through the same thing and they can give you advice on what works for them. Some smokers can quit by going at it cold turkey, but most people need a plan that involves a slow reduction in smoking. When making your personal plan you are going to want to write down all the reasons you like smoking along with all the reasons you don't. Write down what kind of smoker are you, a chain smoker, a social smoker, or do you just smoke out of boredom? You might also want to add what types of treatments you want to use and if you want to use any support groups. The first thing you should do is set a "QUIT DATE" and tell your friends and family when that date will be. If smoking is a problem in the workplace you should share with your co-workers your quit date as well. You need to remove all cigarettes and other tobacco products from your home, car, and work. Ask friends, family members, and co-workers that smoke to please do so when you're not around so that you are not tempted to join in. You can talk to you family physician about the different medicines to help you stop smoking. You will find that there are many other things in your life that will be just as satisfying as smoking. If you think about it, why is smoking such a big part of your life? It could be because you are depressed, lonely, or maybe it's to help relieve stress. When you really think about it what purpose does smoking serve other than to cause serious health problems down the road. It is possible to learn how to redirect your smoking habits with other things and manage your cravings for the nicotine. When you're thinking about quitting smoking think about your family, friends and all the people that care about you and wants what's best, show them you can do it! With the right information and support you can "kick the habit for good!"
