What is relaxation meditation? It is a state of both mind and body. It is all about focusing on a specific thought or individual object and at the same time attaining balance across all your muscles. It is not necessarily the objective of relaxation meditation techniques to practice meditation in any pre-defined format. The focus is about achieving relaxed awareness, a feeling of weightlessness and receptivity. Meditation techniques can take many different forms once you have this definition in mind. Discovering the best approach for your unique needs is the primary objective. Are you a very social person? If that's the case, perhaps meditating in a group will be your best option. A local health club might offer a meditation class that you could enjoy. Are you spiritual? Perhaps the greatest relaxation meditation technique for you will be built around prayer. Meditation is not having a conversation with your god, so be mindful to not let that happen. It is important to keep in mind that one thought or object is the focus of meditation. Begin with a simple thought or desire, for example, focus your thought on "family harmony" and be open to your god's response. Are you physically active? If so, something physical would almost certainly be best for you. To achieve the subliminal feeling of active meditation, you do not need to be a long distance runner. You can also reach a state of relaxed meditation by absorbing yourself in activities like yoga, gardening, walking, creative arts and many other activities. As you figure out the best relaxation meditation technique for yourself, think about your unique style and needs. You will have a hard time maintaining your practice if you do not find a technique that fits you and your lifestyle. A couple of things to remember, no matter what relaxation meditation technique you choose to pursue. Keep focused. . . on your thought, activity or object. Do not get wrapped up in thoughts that intrude. Sweep those thoughts out of your mind before becoming distracted by them. Stay in the present. . . during your meditation, don't let some fear of a future event or a criticism of a past event interfere with your efforts. Be in the moment. Practice daily. . . regardless of what form of relaxation meditation technique you undertake, your best opportunity for success comes from repetition. It will take practice and perseverance to find your relaxed state. Keep in mind that as you master meditation and relaxation, you are training yourself to master a controlled process. Remember your goal as you work on that process: You can discover the path to a feeling of weightlessness, relaxed awareness and receptivity through your relaxation meditation technique. Whenever your life starts to stress you out, you will be able to find your inner peace once you establish that path.
