Nowadays the energy efficient light bulbs are very much in demand in the market. These bulbs are available in two forms, Compact Fluorescent Lights, (CFL) and Light Emitting Diode, (LED). These bulbs not only help to save energy, but also help to cut down the electricity bills by a great deal. According to studies, the CFL bulbs are about 4 times more efficient compared to the ordinary bulbs, and at the same time lasts about 10 times longer. Although the price of the Energy Saving LED and CFL bulbs are higher than the cost of the ordinary bulbs, their efficiency and ability to cut the energy consumption and cost makes them value for money. These bulbs and lamps prove to be the best option for anyone wishing to pay lower electricity bills and at the same time protect the environment and preserve energy. Research studies suggest that CFLs consume just one third of the energy that is consumed by the incandescent bulbs. For instance, if you replace a 75 watt incandescent bulb with an 18-watt CFL bulb, you can save about 570 kWh of energy over its lifetime, while keeping your home well lit. By replacing your old incandescent bulbs with the latest CFL bulbs and energy saving LED lamps, you can also do your bit for the environment because they help to minimise water and air pollution both. According to studies, even if you replace only one incandescent bulb with a CFL bulb, you will be able to keep the atmosphere free from half a ton of carbon dioxide through the bulb’s life. Another benefit of using these energy efficient bulbs is that you can save a great deal of energy and contribute to the environment by reducing high-level-nuclear waste and emission of sulphur oxide. If you had been using incandescent bulbs all this time and want to change to energy efficient light bulbs, you need not worry at all because these bulbs are easy to use and in fact the CFL bulbs fit easily into the sockets meant for standard lamps and hence you do not have to incur extra expenses for getting these sockets changed. The CFL bulbs emit equal amount of light as emitted by the ordinary incandescent bulbs, but consume less energy. Another advantage of using the CFL bulbs is that the light produced by them is warm and inviting because they use earth phosphors for colour and warmth, which is rare. At the same time, these bulbs do not flicker and cause irritation.
