What is the secret to passion and how do you get it? Well, the answer isn’t what you think. Don’t think about how to get it, because you already have it. Think about where to find it.

The secret is that passion is buried deep in your joy and happiness. In other words, if all you do is work—either at your job or at home—and you don’t do anything that has meaning to you, it can squish every bit of passion right out of you.

Two Misconceptions About Passionr
Do you feel you must know what your passion is before you can become passionate? If your answer is yes, I invite you to rethink this first misconception. You do not need to know your passion to be passionate. In other words, instead of asking, “What’s my passion?” you can ask, “What can I do today that has meaning?”

The second misconception is that if you have passion, it makes getting what you want in life easier. This simply is not true. Going after what you want takes lots of hard work—and for most goals, it can take years.

Knowing what you want creates passion. Often is the case, though, that you have very little time available for you to go after what you want because you are busy making a living and taking care of others.

Just because you can’t see your passion doesn’t mean it’s not there. Keep exploring, testing, and communicating your desire to uncover the essence of who you really are.

The future is not ahead of you, it’s trapped inside of you. You are already completely full of all your true potential—which leads you to your passion.

How to Go After Your Passionr
By engaging in activities that bring you joy and happiness, you will ultimately find and experience your passion. Here are three strategies you can begin doing immediately to go after your passion.

Action Steps
• Start by thinking about your life as it now and how you spend your time. Do you have a job? Are you raising a family? How much of the daily chores are you responsible for? Write a list.

• Decide to increase time spent on an activity that you enjoy doing that boosts your energy. You could read, take a walk, or call your best friend.

• Choose to decrease time spend on an activity that drains your energy. A few energy drainers could be doing all the chores, saying yes when you mean no, or forcing yourself to spend time with a toxic friend.
