Ask yourself. How much am I giving myself? What are the conversations am I having with myself?
What thoughts are entering my mind? What is my life like?
How much do you give yourself into retrospection?
Before you decide on your actions, for whatever it is in life, you must first decide your motives.
This is crucial! Our motives set us apart from everyone else.
Did you select a college major because you felt that it would help you on your career goals?
Or did you select your major because your friends are doing it or maybe a parent decided for you?
If you decided that it was best for your career goals, your actions will be strong and true. You will study harder, take more interest in in the course work, and affiliate yourself with students who have similar motives.
However, if your college major was decided for you or influenced based on the actions of others, then unless you have a liking to the course work, college will be more challenging.
What are your motives to marry? Is it because na). you truly love your partner nb). because you don't want to be lonely? nc). your partner's money?
Whatever your motive, will impact the outcome of the marriage. Studies have shown that anything but "a" will prove damaging.
So what determines our motives? Basically, motives are determined by our own values.
How are values determined?
Our minds are bombarded with hundreds and thousands of thoughts. However, we only process a few thousand of them.
It is based on those few thousand thoughts, that we define our values. Values are based on the thoughts that we allow to enter our minds. It is our thoughts that determine what we like and dislike, what is pleasure and what is pain, what is desire and what is need.
And what determine our thoughts? Our growing up.
If your life is not working, or if you are aware enough to determine that you must change. You first start with your thoughts.
Introspect! What thoughts are you allowing into your mind?
Once we recognize the thoughts that enter our minds, we come to terms with our limitations.
What is the best way to recognize our thoughts? MEDITATION!
Change your thoughts, and you change your values.
Once you change your values, you change your motives.
Once you change your motives, you change your actions.
As young children, we grew up with certain thoughts that we believe will either hinder us or help us.
The beauty of growing up and self-realization is that we can change all that.nn
