Modern technology has brought many benefits to mankind. But sometimes it can be detrimental as well. Case in point - the internet. Although the internet has brought a wealth of information to our fingertips, it seems to be creating a new generation of the "shy".

A shy person is prone to use the internet as a substitute for human interaction. It is much easier to communicate in a chat room or through email than through face to face interaction. I am not saying that it is wrong to engage in fulfilling discussions online. But if you depend on the internet for your social life, you are not likely to develop the social skills that you need.

Fortunately there are many resources available for shy people. If you are shy I encourage you to read all that you can about shyness. Then, take steps to balance your cyberspace soical life with old fashion socializing! nnn
