Expect Nothing and Nothing Will Disappoint You You can shun disappointments by not having any expectations with regards to your honour. If you expect nothing, then nothing can disappoint you and therefore nothing will be taken from you. In order to be a contented person, you must do something for the benefit of others to relieve them from the sufferings and also complete this mission without any expectation of rewards. So if there is no expectation of rewards, there will be no cause of disappointment. In the end, you have actually gain a big reward, which is happiness in your heart after doing good for others. This reward, happiness you gained creates great satisfaction in your life. By expecting returns from others, you are not only depriving yourself from happiness, but very often you will even faced with bitter disappointment. So the best weapon you must equipped with in order to protect yourself from those who wish to harm you is by not wanting anything back. You probably be wondering to yourself now, if you are a person who is good by nature and so you do not cause harm to others. But nevertheless you get blamed despite having done good, so the question is, "Does good really begets good and bad begets bad?" The simple answer to this is that when you are doing goods, you may unwittingly be going against the bad forces in the world. You can overcome this by continuing your good works with sound understanding, you will eventually be free of such troubles. Some people grumble and complain by saying that they have already done so much but did not even received a single "Thank you". Why is gratitude so important if we can experience happiness by help others? You cannot always expect other people to be grateful to you for what you have done. People are inclined to be forgetful especially when it comes to recalling past favours. If people fail to show gratitude, you have to learn to accept them as such - only then you can overvome disappointment.
