In a world where people from different countries have access to different foods that may or may not provide actual nutrition, it is amazing to think that there are people in the UK and the United States who suffer from malnutrition and poor nutrition. As we become more aware of what nutritional needs our bodies have, we realize how easy it can be to go through life without properly taking care of our bodies’ nutritional needs. Just because we purchase food in a grocery store, it doesn’t necessarily mean it is healthy for us. As we look at labels and begin to be aware of what we are taking into our bodies, we may be surprised at how little nutritional food we actually consume on a daily basis. We know we need vitamins, minerals, protein, and fiber to keep our bodies working properly, and we are beginning to learn and really grasp the amounts of each of these that are needed. However, as people seem to increase the number of activities they are involved in, a distinct decrease in the amount of time that is available to shop for and prepare healthy foods is one of the results. One way to overcome the deficit in daily nutrition is to add nutritional supplements such as spirulina to our diets. spirulina is a single-celled member of the blue-green algae family. People from many civilizations have found that it has amazing nutritional properties. As scientists have begun to study it, they also concur. In fact, it has been found that these tiny cells contain over one hundred nutrients that are essential for the body. That is quite a bit to pack into a single celled organism. In addition to the regular vitamins we know we need, such as the B vitamins, C, D, and E, it also contains very important minerals. With more calcium than 25 glasses of milk and more than 55 times the iron in spinach, one begins to see how important this supplement could be. With all of these vitamins and minerals, one might be surprised to find out that it is also composed of about 60 percent protein. For people who prefer a vegetarian style of diet, this is a perfect source of vegetable protein. Not only that, it includes very important amino acids such as lysine, methionine, and cysteine, which are proven to help with disease prevention. One of the best things about all of these nutritional elements is the fact that they are easily absorbed by the body. Many foods and supplements contain excellent nutritional substances, but if the body cannot easily absorb them, they do a person no good at all. spirulina, on the other hand, is a powerhouse of nutrition that is quite easily assimilated by the body so that the nutrition can begin helping improve one’s health. As with anything, moderation is the key. If you take in too much of this super-food, you may have problems just like if you take in too much of any other type of food or supplement. Always read the directions and follow them carefully. By using this amazing super-food, you will be well on the way to better nutrition and a healthier you.
