Successful people will tell you that there are two kinds of men and women in this world. Those that make things happen and those that watch things happen.
Life can be very simple when you choose to be the latter. Contented with what you have, work just enough to pay your way, happy to let life roll on by. In their hearts they might know that isn't enough, but that’s what they are willing to settle for.

Then there are those that choose to make things happen. The everyday people whose success stories your hear about on the radio, see on TV or read in newspapers, but more often are the silent achievers, who make a difference to themselves and others as they take every opportunity that they can create.

Why is it that most people choose not to be the ones that make things happen? There are billions of us here on the planet yet the number of truly successful individuals does not even come close to a tenth of that.
The answer is because they are afraid and the number one thing they are afraid of, in their own eyes, is their own fear of failure.

This may not always be the case but whatever it is that they are afraid of, it prevents them from reaching their goals and achieve the things they dream about.
It is often easier not to attempt the challenge than it is to put in the hard work, or make a tough decision, to go ahead and just give it a go.
Nothing in this world worth having comes easy. I am a 53 year old man who fought the ex-Heavyweight Boxing Champion of Australia a couple of years ago, 6 days before I ran across the Australian Desert. The title alone should have me quivering in my pants and should have me running in the opposite direction. But I didn’t. Fear was there, yes. Who wouldn’t be afraid? Especially as the guy was 20 kilos heavier, 18 years younger and far more experienced in being beaten up tha
I was. However, I faced my fears and had an experience and a story for my kids to tell forever.
The same goes in our business dealings. The fear of failing and disappointing the people who expect so much from us is what hinders us from becoming our full potential. However, if you read carefully all the success stories out there, they did not make it on their first attempt. They have failed at one point yet they got back on their feet and became the person they are today. For them, it was not failure at all. It was a chance to learn, experience and use that knowledge to succeed the next time. The real shame in life is to do nothing because of fear.
It may not be easy but whoever said life was going to be? If you want something really bad, only you stand in the way of that. The possibilities in this world are limitless and it is up to you to grab it.

Final thought: When you become old and grey and are reminiscing about past memories and experiences, and your Great Grandchildren say Granddad/Grandma "what did you do in your life?" what will you say?

“To try and not succeed is not failure.
Failure is to not try in the first place!”
