Whenever we experience any kind of dis-ease within our mind/body system, there is the illusion that we are out of control. The very fact that we are experiencing something different to the general populus, that being our friends, family and work colleagues creates and compounds the evidence we are faced with, which is; there is something wrong with us.nnA problem can, and does only ever exist for one very specific reason, we interpret the information from our mind /body system to mean that something is happening that we have not consciously chosen to experience. As such we react to it in a way that directs our focus and attention to it on a consistent basis, therefore it becomes one of our daily, hourly, half hourly even minute-by-minute thoughts.nnDue to emotions attached to this problem thought it appears to grow in strength and potentially seriousness. This elevation in strength and seriousness then compounds the illusion of it having control of us; or rather we can’t do anything about it.nnSo let’s consider another option that, if you take it on and consider it will make a big difference in your life – guaranteed.nnSo we have a problem, we focus on it, our thoughts now have an emotional attachment in regards to this problem, and subsequently it now has control over us.nnIf your car breaks down, the engine just stops, do you look at it, worry about it, feel anxious and stressed about it, talk to all your friends and family about it, see a therapist and tell them about it and research it on the net trying to find out why it stopped. Of course not, you take it straight to a mechanic and he fixes it for you, and the only reason he can fix it is because he looks at the car differently to us. He doesn’t see a problem, he only sees a car that is telling him something about its current condition, and this is what the mechanic relies on because without this feedback, even though it is negative, he wouldn’t know what to do to fix it.nnThe same is with any problem we experience in our own life; our mind and body are providing us with valuable feedback to which we have the opportunity to respond. Our response is based on how we have responded to problems before, so if previously we have responded to a problem by focusing on it and the illusion that we are out of control, then that is what we will continue to do. Unless we recognise that this approach does not and is not helping us, at which point we have the option to respond in a different manner, and this is where the magic is.nnIf you are experiencing dis-ease within your mind/body system, the key to gaining back to control is firstly, recognise that you already are in control, sure you didn’t start the dis-ease, that is you system providing feed back and alerting you to an imbalance. However by focusing on it you compound it, so the magic lies in focusing on what you want instead.nnIf for example you are experiencing anxiety or stress in your life, then form an idea of what you want instead (i.e.: to feel in control, relaxed and confident), focus intently on it, see yourself that way, feel what it would be like to be that way, imagine yourself in places where you normally are anxious but feel the way you want to instead. Practice this on a continuous basis religiously, talk to yourself in a way that compounds this wanted feeling and soon enough this will become your habit, one that you will do automatically.nnChange the emotional attachment to your thoughts using the above process consistently and you will notice the differences.nnProblems are only problems because we escalate feedback to that level.n
