Intent Voice Jeff McIntire-Strasburg was an English professor before he decided to try his hand at green blogging and write about a subject he was passionate about, which was sustainable living. Back in 2003 when he first found Sustainablog, the blogging community was mostly dominated by techies, and online green resources were relatively scarce. Fast forward a mere 6 years later, and you can find thousands of high-quality, environmental news and blog sites relating to your specific area of interest from all over the world. These days, we don't have just green bloggers, but green parenting bloggers, green political bloggers, green tech bloggers, green fashion bloggers--you name it. Whatever blogging subcategory you are interested in reading about, you can certainly count on finding a green version of it. Sustainablog, of which Jeff is still the editor, is now one of the longest-running green blogs on the web. It regularly features the latest news on environmental and economic sustainability, in addition to featuring green environmental leader, experts, and everyday people reducing their carbon footprint. I consider Jeff to be a blogger success story, and a representation of the great things that can happen from the democratic medium of blogging. You don't necessarily need fancy credentials or big connections to write about the environment--or anything, for that matter. Like, Jeff, a passion to constantly learn and write about the subject matter can take you to big places in the blogging world. In our conversation, Jeff speaks about the origins of his environmental awareness, tips for newbie green bloggers and how you can reduce your energy consumption when you are traveling all over the world. Listening to Jeff just may inspire you to start a green blogging revolution of your own.
