Did you know that the United States Environmental Protection Agency reports that:

Indoor air quality is on average two to five times more polluted, and sometimes 100 times more polluted, than outdoor air!

Well, I've lived my adult life by one simple rule: I don't put anything unhealthy into my body. I have been eating healthy and organic foods long before it was fashionable, and I have owned a water filter/purifier for over 20 years.

But I was shocked to find out just how bad the air I breathe every day is!

So what can we do about the air we breathe?

The E.P.A. recommends three strategies:

1. Eliminate Sources of Pollution

There are dozens of sources, such as molds and mildew, pet dander, dust mites, fabric dyes, carpeting, building materials, and even household cleaning products. Of course, it's not always possible or cost-effective to eliminate all sources. A high quality air filter in your central air system can help. However, I recommend combining this step with strategy #3 air purification (see below) to achieve the best indoor air quality

2. Ventilation

Increasing the amount of outdoor air that comes indoors is may also help. Opening windows may not be practical, though, due to the weather, heating/cooling costs, and maybe even design (the windows in many modern office buildings don't even open!).

3. Purification

Cleaning and purification are a third strategy that can be used. Air purifiers pull in indoor air, uses filters to collect pollutants, and may use ozone, ionization, or other technology to clean the air before dispersing it back into the environment. Over time, the purifier may clean all the air in a given area and reduce contaminants.

In my own experience, I have found air purification to be essential. Given the cost of eliminating sources of pollution, and the impracticality of ventilation, air purification has been the most cost-effective way for me to improve the air in my home

If health is important to you and your family, you need to be conce
ed about the quality of air you breath. With the "fresh air" tips in this article and on my web site, I know that the air I now breathe is just as good as everything else I put into my body. nn===================================
