Anxiety disorder is the term used to describe different types of anxieties and fear conditions under it. As the term implies, anxiety is fear over something or fear about something. The general public has experienced anxieties at points in their lives. This means that everyone has an anxiety- causing encounter such as big problems or big changes in their lives. However, anxiety becomes a disorder when the person becomes dysfunctional and cannot integrate well in the context of the social spheres he or she belongs to. Anxiety disorders are classified into several types and are important to be evaluated by psychiatrists before self diagnosis. 1. Generalized anxiety disorder- people experiencing this have anxiety not directed to a specific subject. Most of them have anxieties over things revolving around their daily lives. 2. Phobias- these are fears associated with a direct subject or a direct situation. Phobias involving water, heights, snakes, etc are among the subjects. 3. Panic disorder- these are attack of fears evident by chilling, shaking among others. In panic attacks, there are no clear reasons why a person experiences panic. It often is triggered with stress, 4. Post traumatic stress disorder- is an anxiety disorder resulting from an experience that is traumatic to an individual. 5. Obsessive- Compulsive disorder- this disorder characterizes and individual having an urge to do repetitive actions as a result of nervousness. Often, these actions are illogical. 6. Separation anxiety- is the difficulty of detachment from a person, place and even thing. This is common among children.
