The Anatomy of Personal Development

Personal development has a profound effect on our successes as human beings. Often I would come across books at home when I was a teen that momma would have and i’d scan over them. I believe she read some of them. All us are that way on some level. She said, when we don’t have real purpose and drive to do a thing you won’t do anything to change it. Whatever that thing is, we only do what we know. As a child I grew to believe what momma told me. That you could do anything you put your mind to. She has an understanding. How many of us actually believe that until we are certain? Totally certain!

When we see the people close to us display the opposite, it can be difficult to adjust. Sometimes it takes you longer to reach your potential when you have to convince yourself that it’s possible. I believe what it really boils down to, is you convincing yourself that you can do it, weather it’s succeeding in business, real estate, growing a company to it’s highest limits or becoming a new person overall, doesn’t matter how old you are. It’s an inner battle with the voice that gives us all the reasons why we can’t or shouldn’t do it. Continuously doing so your belief system is formed from the programming we’ve received as the truth about ourselves. Why… and who cares?

That way of thinking becomes a mental block, gradually setting up paradigms in the mind. In this society we tend to believe that wealth and riches gives us credibility, well it does but, not without a price. So I asked myself, some real questions. What you willing to sacrifice for your happiness or the life you intend to lead? How can I serve others? There are two ways you serve. One, is be a victim of circumstances that are primary examples of our illusions and be controlled by that or two, serve people in a greater format by stepping into our best selve’s shoes. Walking the walk without hesitation and being good to yourself and others, gaining a real respect and understanding of value, serving humanity for the greater good. Your true purpose on earth.

I was at a low point just some years ago when I was hanging out drinking and partying or just doing nothing productive with my time. Yet I still kept seeing the same results. I suddenly noticed, hey something must change here, deliberately. What I have learned is everything changes wether we want them to or not however, the gifts I believe we have is the ability to step in, and bend space and time to our will. We have to be specific and deliberate or it will do what it does. Change without observation and the reality of that change will be. The most common mistakes we tell ourselves is that we don’t know enough. That is furthest from the truth. There are no experts on everything but there are masters of a thing. My advice today is, learn a skill set without permission. The information is here because someone did the work and found out. Dr. Steven Covey did a demonstration exercise on prioritizing, putting the priorities of life in the form of rocks in a clear bucket. Using the big ones first. After seeing what people put in and forced to leave out was amazing and eye opening.

We go through life searching for answers constantly. That path can be chaotic or unclear when we are clouded with all the things in life that we’ve given our attention to, not knowing what we don’t know. A theory developed by Noel Burch at Gordon Training International. The four stages of learning. The four stages are as follows.

Unconscious incompetencer
The individual does not understand or know how to do something and does not necessarily recognize the deficit. They may deny the usefulness of the skill. The individual must recognise their own incompetence, and the value of the new skill, before moving on to the next stage. The length of time an individual spends in this stage depends on the strength of the stimulus to learn.
Conscious incompetencer
Though the individual does not understand or know how to do something, he or she does recognize the deficit, as well as the value of a new skill in addressing the deficit. The making of mistakes can be integral to the learning process at this stage.
Conscious competencer
The individual understands or knows how to do something. However, demonstrating the skill or knowledge requires concentration. It may be broken down into steps, and there is heavy conscious involvement in executing the new skill.
Unconscious competencer
The individual has had so much practice with a skill that it has become “second nature” and can be performed easily. As a result, the skill can be performed while executing another task. The individual may be able to teach it to others, depending upon how and when it was learned.

Now, being able to ask yourself the right questions and correct them, moving forward is a true testament of progress. That is all nothing more. When we visualize undesired outcomes that is exactly what we get. There is a quote by henry ford that says The best way to predict the future is create it.
