The Art of Balanced Living

Are you a juggler? Let me start by saying that I'm not looking for professional jugglers for a circus or show! It is however, a serious question. In today's frenetic, hectic society, we hear phrases like "multi-tasking". So, I ask again, are you a juggler? What kind of things do we have to juggle with? Homes, jobs or careers, finances, health, parenting, relationships, educations, employees - the list could go on since we all face different situations and circumstances. The pace of life today, and the responsibilities we have to care for, are pressing in on people more and more each day. And each one of us has to deal with, and cope with these things the best we can. Would you be interested, if I could show you a simple strategy or two, that would enable you to deal more effectively with the load you currently have to bear? You see, if we don't find ways to adapt to the situations we face in life, then pressure builds up, it leads to excessive stress, and eventual breakdown. Then, we're no good to ourselves or anyone else for that matter. So, what can we do? The first step, is to sit down, take a piece of paper and write down all the things you have to deal with on a daily, weekly, monthly basis. This will help you to get a full picture of what you're doing, and where you're spending your time. The next step, is to honestly evaluate whether some of the things you may be doing, could be passed on to someone else, or are even essentials for you! You could be burning yourself out at work for example, by taking on a larger workload than you need to. In this area of life, you may need to learn to say "no". And you're allowed to say no! Carry on with this process, all the way through the different things you must do in your unique situation. You may be surprised at just how much you are doing, and more importantly, you may find that some things you do could either be deleted altogether, or delegated to someone else; whether that someone else is a co-worker or family member as the case may be. Sometimes there is the critical need to stop, reflect, and evaluate on what we're doing in life, and what life is doing to us. Living a balanced life can seem almost the impossible dream - but it can be achieved with a little thought and planning.
