An effective home office where a successful business is run can be created through the use of feng shui. Feng shui will produce the best flow of chi in your office. What is chi? It is the life force present in all things in the world. Blocking chi can cause many things to go amuck. You will have no energy, feel stuck at your job and without focus. A chi allowed to run wild will also cause problems bringing with it waves of change and uncertainty. Organizing paperwork and office materials as well as a smart office layout can give you a great flow of chi. First: Your home office should have its own room. It doesn’t have to be large, but it should have a door. Having a separate room with a door for your home office will put you in control of your work. This will also keep your work and personal life separate. Second: In your home office feng shui tools successfully used in planning the layout of your office can help prevent miscommunications, conflicts, and even the loss of clients. The placement of your desk is very important in creating the best gentle flow of chi through your office. It is most important that you can see your door from your desk. Sitting with your back to the door invites people to take advantage of you! You are also essentially turning your back on business successes. Home office feng shui allows for help out of tricky layout situations. If it is impossible to turn your desk to face the door use a mirror so that you can see the door behind you. Avoid placing your desk so that you have windows behind you. Sitting with windows to your back will leave you feeling vulnerable. You should place your desk where you will have the widest view of your room this should include being able to see your door. This means don’t place your desk against a wall or window. The rest of your furniture, your bookcases for example, shouldn’t be placed tight up against the wall. Feng shui thinks you should leave a 7-9 inch gap from your furniture to the wall. Third: Organizing paperwork is so crucial for home office feng shui to be successful. Not only does your office layout have to promote the flow of chi it should be the clutter free picture of organization. If you neglect your organization clutter will take over your office and block and positive chi you may be trying to create. When organizing paperwork create a home office filing system that works for your business. This will keep all of your papers in the same place, out of sight and you will be able to quickly find invoices, files, client information, and other important papers. Keeping your space clean will create clear energy flow through the room. Put away projects you are not currently working on. By storing these projects somewhere out of visual range from your home office you will keep your mind clear of this mental clutter and be able to concentrate on your current projects. Achieving the best flow of chi allows you to be the best you can be in your home office. Knowing that everything around you is connected helps you understand why organizing paperwork and keeping your office clean help your flow of chi. This is what feng shui teaches us.
