If the staff of Personalized Wellness Solutions and Green Eye Blog had a nickel for every time they were asked, “what is that green stuff you are drinking?” we would all be able to retire to a nice tropical getaway. Unfortunately, we don’t have those nickels, but we do make sure we always have plenty of the green stuff to keep us going through 12 hour days of training clients, providing nutrition counseling and keeping you (and us) up on the world of wellness! The green stuff is a powdered green drink supplement called “Doc Broc’s Power Plants”. This nutrient packed powder contains low-heat dehydrated, 100% all natural organic fruits, vegetables and grasses. Formulated by Dr. Robert O. Young and available at pH Miracle Living, “Doc Broc’s Power Plants” power us through our days because they provide a rich source of chlorophyll and antioxidant loaded ingredients: avocado, cucumber, tomato, lemon, lime, broccoli sprouts, spinach, celery, parsley, cabbage, collard greens, okra, kale, soy sprouts, lemon grass, wheat grass, barley grass, shave grass, oat grass, and couch grass. So to answer the inevitable follow up question, “why are you drinking grass?” We explain that chlorophyll, the substance that makes plants green, works as a blood purifier and blood builder in the human body. Chlorophyll helps the immune system by clearing out bacteria, yeast and fungus traveling through the blood. In fact, the molecular structure of chlorophyll is virtually identical to that of red blood cells-with the exception of the center atom which, in chlorophyll is magnesium and in red blood cells is iron. Cereal grasses, like wheat grass and barley grass, contain enzymes, including the very potent antioxidant enzyme, super oxide dismutase (SOD). SOD works to repair cells and reduce damage done to cells by the most common free radical in the body-superoxide. Perhaps the biggest benefit we derive from the “green stuff” is an easy and refreshing way to add even more alkalinity to our daily diet. Chlorophyll is alkaline and, in addition to working as anti-inflammatory and antioxidant, it helps maintain proper pH balance in the body-which is essential for maintaining health and increasing resistance to disease. As we slowly convince people that we aren’t crazy, the third question is “So, how does it taste?” Well, like grasses and vegetables, which may cause many to turn up their nose, however, simply squeeze a tablespoon or two of lemon juice into a liter of good clean water and you won’t notice the vegetable taste! As you refine your diet away from high sugar, high fat foods your palate changes and you will find over time as your energy level and health improves that you won’t want to go a day without your “Doc Broc’s Power Plants” green drink either! Just be prepared to answer a lot of questions from family, friends and suspicious work colleagues about that funky green stuff you’re drinking!
