There were two children who skated on a frozen pond. It was a cloudy and chilly afternoon but the kids played without worry—until suddenly the ice broke and one of the children fell into the water. He screamed for help, but nobody heard him except for his scared friend. In a desperate attempt to save his friend from drowning under the ice, the boy took a stone and began pounding with all his strength in an effort to break through. The more he pounded, the more his friend tried to search for the hole through which he had originally fallen through. But the boy did not let his friend’s desperation interfere with his mission. Finally, after many breathless moments and strenuous attempts, he was able to crack through the thick ice. Miraculously, he pulled his friend out of the water and saved his life. When firefighters arrived and saw what had happened, they asked, “How did he do it?” “The ice is very thick,” they said, talking among themselves. “Besides, it is impossible that he could break it with just a stone, not to mention that the boy’s hands are so small!” At that moment an old man appeared and said, “I know how he did it.” ”How?” the intrigued firemen asked. The old man answered: “There was nobody around to tell him he could not do it.” Three Lessons we can learn from the little boy who would not give up! 1. Empowerment is a choice. What is the one thing that will always make you feel empowered? It is the ability to make a choice. The problem is that we often forget there is a choice in absolutely everything. Even if external circumstances stop us from doing what we want, we still have a choice in how we are going to approach the situation. If there’s one thing we have control over, it’s our attitude, thoughts, and our feelings. Let this story serve as a reminder that empowerment is always a choice. 2. Life is so much more fulfilling when it’s not about us. When life becomes about you, it tends to become significance-driven and very boring. Motivational Speaker Zig Ziglar once said, “If you help enough people get what they want, you will get what you want.” Life tends to become more interesting when it’s not just about you. If you notice, everyone who has achieved greatness and huge success did it by involving and helping others in the process. We receive the most joy and abundance from others and the universe when we decide to fulfill other people’s needs before our own. The little boy in the story above achieved what is perceived to be impossible. And it happened in the moment he stopped making it about him. I am inviting you to push your ego to the side, and start making others in your life your biggest priority. 3. Powerful people are unreasonable. If there’s one thing that is evident in this world, it’s that people who are unreasonable never let things phase them. They always find workarounds and solutions to whatever gets in their way. The “it can’t be done” mindset is not only absent from their vocabulary, it actually pisses them off when they are around people who possess that negative attitude. Look at it this way, it’s going to take an unreasonable approach to be able to solve the global warming problem, fix the economy, repair our personal finances, restore broken relationships and the list goes on and on. If anything, this little boy taught us that the world belongs to those who are willing to be unreasonable. rnIf you enjoyed reading this article then you will love listening to an audio interview I did with a self-made Billionaire. http://unleashyourchampion.com/persistence/would-not-give-up/
