In today’s work place, you will generally find two kinds of people. Firstly, the corporate workers, who are able to find enough time to complete their tasks, and secondly, the kind of workers, that somehow are always forcing their way to complete tasks or try to work things out at the last moment.
If you complete an analysis of the above situation, you would easily realize that the two are different through their time management practices.
For employees who are nearly always inundated by huge work loads and various other tasks, time management plays a very crucial task. Everyone enjoys other aspects of life like social life, sex life, family life and even spiritual life, and each one has its own priorities.
That is the reason that to meet targets and deadlines with much ease, time management is necessary. But for time management to be competent and useful, it is going to take much better skill of goal setting.
Even though goal setting and time management are like apples and oranges, they are, when put into practice, very much entwined to each other.
In other words, to make time management effective and attainable, you need to have proper goal setting. And for its part, if there is no effective time management skill, then goal setting cannot be attained successfully.
The first and main thing to do when managing time is to assess and make a list of priorities. This will help in doing the important tasks first.
How can you set priorities if you have not set proper goals? It is impossible to do so. What are priorities? They are things that need to be given primary attention. The same is for all goals. Priorities and goals are similar. They are both taken as the final outcomes and aims for a particular individual.
To help you set effective goals and also manage your time better, I have mentioned some easy, logical and handy tips:
The first important thing is to set SMART goals i.e., all your goals need to be Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic and Timely. Just remember your goals and try to arrange your day so that you are able to attain your goals.
You need to decide on your priorities, by trying to determine the actions that need to be taken. This will help to consider the time needed to perform the tasks.
When you make your daily timetable, try not to conflict the times set for achieving your goals with other important activities. If a schedule is arranged to not miss out any deadlines, then it would be considered a great start to an effective time management.
While setting your goals, try assessing yourself by establishing your skills, talents, capability and capacity to take up your required outcome or goals. This would help in estimating the time it will take to achieve the goal.
Finally, focus on your goals and make sure that the tasks need to be done and finished on time, so that all goals are attained in time.
