financialfootprint, LLC, a company providing personal financial solutions and counseling services, announced a new client relationship with A Sound Strategy Inc. (ASSI), a website and software development firm. financialfootprint will provide each ASSI employee access to their very own personal finance expert via the web. The relationship marks a new venture for both companies; while financialfootprint wanted to build out its personal financial education service into the small business sector, ASSI was looking to position its business for accelerated growth. For the software design and web development company, growth meant investing in its people. Dennis Jeter, President and CEO of ASSI, knows he has a good business story to tell prospective employees, but he also wanted employee benefits to differentiate ASSI from other employers competing for talented designers and developers. “As a small business owner, I wanted to offer non-traditional benefits to my employees in 2011” said Jeter, “and I thought about what resources I would have liked to have access to when I was just starting out 20 years ago. Since its launch in September 2010, financialfootprint, co-founded by David Kittredge and David Ng, had focused its business development in the direction of colleges and universities, and building a retail client base. In conversations with Jeter, Kittredge and Ng began to see the opportunity for financialfootprint’s personal finance education service to marry up nicely with the needs of small business to attract and retain young adult employee talent. “So many small businesses like ASSI rely heavily on younger talent, particularly those in retail and technology markets” says Ng. And Dave Kittredge points out that “affordable, relevant and creative employee benefit solutions can be more than a tie breaker for employees—they demonstrate that the company really cares”. For Jeter, the relationship with financialfootprint offers a chance to give his employees something he never had. “I want my younger employees to be ahead of the curve when it comes to managing their personal finances,” says Jeter. “This is where financialfootprint’s personalized approach, of providing each subscriber unlimited access to a personal finance expert, comes into play.”
