Water is widely-used source of electricity in every country. Dams served as containers where most water is being stocked which can be used to provide drinking water and a source of hydrogen to provide electricity. But there can be a great way to produce energy than using fresh water. Wastewater can be a great use to provide waste to energy products which can provide us with electricity and fuel. Waste to energy is not limited to municipal solid wastes but wastewater can also be a source of energy. Water is a good source of waste to energy products since if it is processed it will only emit water vapor which is safe for the environment.

Wastewater is not the only means of hydrogen but also vegetable oil and other types of cooking oil. We usually just throw the used cooking oil from our houses and the sad part is, it also clogs up our sink. But using wasted cooking oil to produce waste to energy products is very efficient and environment friendly. Burning of hydrogen from wastewater or cooking oil does not produce carbon dioxide which is not environment-friendly. It is said that producing energy from hydrogen can be costly if it is processed the conventional way. That is why researchers are finding a way to process hydrogen which can be in terms of gasification or through steaming the waste until hydrogen is released. It is comparatively cheaper to use a new technique than sticking to the conventional way of processing hydrogen to produce waste to energy products. It is also cleaner and more energy efficient than the previous process.

The conventional procedure makes use of catalytic reactor is used to mix hydrocarbon based fuel that came from waste sources or plants and it will be mixed again with steam which will then produce carbon dioxide and hydrogen as a byproduct. The advanced steam procedure that is being worked on promises a great help for the environment because it lessens the carbon dioxide emission which produces pollution in our planet. It is believed that using air instead of burning the hydrogen from waste sources can be more energy efficient aside from the environmental benefits it offers. Waste to energy will not just promote the use of trash to provide us electricity and fuel but it also offers economic growth and environmental protection so we can sustain our natural resources for future use.
