This was how the trend of lithographic stone printing started. Thereafter, a series of advancements in the field started to take place. For instance, the market flooded with steam-powered presses and rotary press. The paper industry reached its peak of success during the 1850s. This also created the need for high-speed printing. The need resulted in the invention of the pioneer perfecting press in the year 1856. This facilitated businesses to benefit from concurrent printing on both sides of paper. rnThe other main feature of this press is that it helped in printing easily on a consistent paper roll. This technique later on developed into web printing. Varied finishing devices including folders worked towards enhancing the capacity of the process. The best part is that the technique was still successful in maintaining the desired speed. However, web printing still lacked in varied features that are required for perfect lithography in artistic level. rnThe advent of 20th century came up with something really interesting in the field of web offset printing. This was the era when an accidental discovery resulted in the theory of rubber blanket helping in transferring images to paper.
