Want to lose weight? Weight loss starts in your mind - your thinking can help you to slim down. Discover how positive thinking leads to a new you.nnIt can seem as if the modern world was designed solely for skinny folk. That's the hype anyway, and you need to be a very strong person indeed to say: "I'm fat, there's nothing wrong with that, and what's more I love it."nnThe contrary is probably true. Most of your thinking is along these lines:nn* I'm fat so everyone laughs at menn* People think there's something wrong with me.. and there is!nn* I'm fat, so I'm a bad personnn* I'm fat, so I'm unattractivennWhen you have these and similar negative thoughts, you reach for comfort, which is always food.nnYour Mind Got You Fat, Let Your Mind Make You SlimnnIt's time to take charge of your mind. Start by making a list, as above, of your thoughts about being overweight. Just write down any negative thoughts you have.nnNow, beside each negative thought, write "Is this true?" Write Yes, or No.nnIf you wrote "Yes" then write down "How do I know it's true?" on another sheet of paper.nnWrite down the evidence you have for the truth of this thought. When you see the evidence written down, you may be shocked at how silly your so-called evidence sounds. You'll realize it's not true at all.nnNext, write down "Who would I be without this thought?" and answer the question. nn(Note: the above process follows the work of Byron Katie; it's effective - visit her Web site to learn more about her life-changing process.)nnYour next step is to create some positive affirmations, based on your negative thoughts. So for example, "I'm fat so everyone laughs at me" becomes "I'm slim and slender and everyone loves me".nnYou can create several positive affirmations for each negative thought. By this stage, you should be feeling much better about yourself.nnUse your affirmations every day - try to read them once or twice a day. Here's a method I use: I write my affirmations in a text file, which is open on my computer. Once an hour, I read the affirmations, and think about them briefly.nnYour mind made you fat, and your mind will help you to lose weight too - take charge of your mind, and soon you'll be the person you want to be... the wonderful person you already are.nn
