Active acne is frustrating enough, but scars also make you feel depressed and shake your confidence. Due to acne scars, a person might feel a lack of confidence in either way. However, the good thing is they can be treated in many ways.

Before starting scars treatment, you should complete your course of acne treatment, so that they never appear again. Because new breakouts and pop-ups can lead to new scars.

Scars are formed when a pimple breakout penetrates the skin deeply and damages the tissues beneath it. Before starting treatment of scars, you should need to know what type of scars you are facing. Each type of scar differently responds to treatment.

Atrophic or depressed scars

Atrophic scars are one of the most common scars on the face. Depressed scars are usually formed when not enough collagen is made while the wound is healing. There are 3 types of atrophic scars.

Boxcar

Wide scars with U shape and sharp edges are known as a boxcar. They can be shallow or deep. The shallower the scars, the better they will respond.

Ice pick

These are deeper scars on the skin and "V in shape". They can look like small rounds or like chickenpox scar. These are the most difficult scars to treat because they are much deeper and difficult to heal.

Rolling

These scars are round in shape and have an irregular rolling appearance.

Hypertrophic or raised scars

These are more common in the chest and back shoulder. These scars are little above the surface and caused by too much collagen during healing.

Dark spots

This isn't actually a scar. It's the discoloration left behind after a zit has cleared. These marks will fade out on their own.

Acne Scars Treatments

Laser surfacing

Laser resurfacing is one of the best treatments to treat scars. In this acne scar treatment in Mumbai, a dermatologist removes the upper layer of the skin. This scar treatment has a much faster healing time than other outdating or nonsurgical resurfacing treatments.

After the laser treatment, you have to cover the recently treated area to avoid any bacterial infection until it healed completely. This treatment isn't good for a person whose acne is still experiencing acne breakout.

Microneedling

This is a small and new technique in which small and handheld needles are used on the scars. These needles puncture the numbed skin and when the skin heals it makes new collagen. This is a long-term process and might take up to 9 months to completely see the changes n the skin.

Fillers

Dermatologists in Andheri west use fillers to fill acne scars on the face and forehead. The filling material will be made with collagen, the patient's own fat, or with commercial filler. This filling material is injected under the skin to smooth out depressed scars. This treatment needs to be redone after a specific time. Most fillers fade out after 10 to 18 months. However, some of them are permanent and lifetime.

Chemical peels

This is a strong acid used to peel out the upper skin of your face. Removing the top layer will make scars less deep. Some chemical peels can be used at home, however, for better results, you should need to consult with a dermatologist.
