What Order Do Baby Teeth Come In?

Your baby's first tooth is always an exciting milestone. But that adorable little pearly white is just the first of many. So, what about all those other teeth? Here at Crossroads Family Dentistry in Colorado Springs, we think every new tooth is an important milestone on your baby's road to a picture-perfect smile, so here are the fast facts you need to know.

The First Baby Teeth

Every baby is unique, but for most their first teeth are their bottom front teeth. These usually come in betwee 6 to 10 months old. Sometimes the first teeth are instead the upper front teeth, appearing at around 8 to 12 months.

The Rest of the Band

Once those first teeth start to erupt it won't be long before your baby has a toothy, gorgeous grin all of her own! You can see here how all those teeth manage to fit in your baby's tiny mouth, but here's a quick timeline of the rest:

Upper:

• 9 - 13 months: Lateral incisors (teeth on either side of the front teeth)
• 13 - 19 months: First molars
• 16 - 22 months: Canines
• 25 - 33 months: Second molars

Lower:

• 10 - 16 months: Lateral incisors
• 14 - 18 months: First molars
• 17 - 23 months: Canines
• 23 - 31 months: Second molars

Help! My Baby's Tooth Hasn't Come in Yet!

Don't worry! The timeline above is just a rough approximation. You have till 18 months for your baby's first tooth to appear before you should come in for a check-up. After that, every baby can be different, so the best way to find out what's going on is coming in for an exam.
