It's nest building time. Beneath the Juniper tree where three dogs sleep the day away, is a litter pile of broken twigs. High overhead, two magpies are busy home-building six feet from the top of the tree. Right now, its rush hour in the sky south of my house, as bluejays, woodpeckers, magpies and a half dozen others fly homeward with a small twig in their beak. Several hundred trips, and they'll have enough material for a house strong enough to weather the upcoming Spring storms. When the hatchlings in the Juniper tree begin their flight lessons, I'll have to bring the dogs into the fenced yard. It should take a day or two for them to "get their wings." In the meantime, they'll spend long days being sung to sleep, in bird song, in their cradle in the sky. In another part of the world, in Africa, there is a village, I'm told, where an expectant Mother goes into the woods with other women, and over the course of a few days discovers the song that will be sung to her child at its birth. Each child born into that village has its own song. The song has such a force field attached to it, that whenever a child does something that would send a U.S. teenager to Court, the villagers do something different. Gathering in a circle with the disruptive youth in the center, they sing the birth song to him or her. Using the sound vibration of the song, they are aligning the child with its true self. It's true nature. What is your song? The song you sing to yourself to realign yourself with your purpose? What is the song of your children? It's never too late to begin singing!
