When most people think of preparing for an event, you probably think of practicing speeches or possibly the event setup. However, there is so much more that goes into an event preparation, such as what you are wearing, especially if you’re a speaker. Confidence is going to be the best part of any outfit you wear. If you look good, you feel good, if you feel confident, then you will perform well, and will translate well to the audience.

Masks - eWome
Network’s ICON Conference will be following the protocols outlined by the CDC, our hosting Hotel, Embassy Suites a Hilton Property, and the City and State’s rules and guidelines, in order to provide our members with a safe and comfortable environment for our 20th Anniversary ICON Conference. We are also socially distancing in our ballrooms and encouraging mask-wearing.

Shoes - Being at a conference can make for a long day if you’re in comfortable shoes. Closed-toe shoes, sandals, and flats are great options because they are neither extremely dressy nor casual and can be dressed up or down depending on the rest of your outfit.

Color Theory for Conferences - Knowing the environment that you will be presenting in, is very important, so you know what colors to wear that will pop on stage and translate well on camera. Wear colors that contrast with the background you will be standing in front of, but keep in mind that the background can affect the color you are wearing. Colors that are in front of a dark background will appear less intense, compared to bright backgrounds they will make your outfit seem brighter. Jewel tones, such as purple, emerald green, or sapphire blue are very saturated colors, so they always show up great on stage and on camera, and work with a wide variety of skin tones. Sunset tones, such as yellow to red, have issues showing up well on camera as they create high contrast edges around them, aka halos. For best results, keep in mind the background that will be at the event as well as what looks best on you.
