Winning the Race

The engine is running but you can't muster up the courage to put the car in drive and hit that gas petal? Why? What's holding you back? I bet I can guess. You're too busy contemplating all the things that can go wrong or all the reasons why it won't work. Well guess what? You'll never know if you don't try.nnThere are only two possible outcomes when you go after a goal, 1) You'll succeed or 2) You'll learn something along the way. And if the result is that you learned something, that just serves to help you with the next step. Often times we don't know all that we need to know and it's those lessons we learn along the way that put us more firmly on the path to success.nnThink of go-carts for example. The first time you get in one of those cars, the steering feels out of whack, the gas pedal and brake are super sensitive and you serve all over the track bouncing off the bumper pads. Your first time around the track is slow and jerky. But you learned something on that first lap. You learned how that go-cart handles and the second time around your time is much faster than the first one. By the third lap you have mastered the go-cart and you're now ready to take on anyone who wants to challenge you. Going after your dreams works the same way.nnIf you are still sitting at the starting line, others will pass you by and you'll be left wondering what if. It's time to put the car in drive, firmly grasp the steering wheel and put your foot on the petal. No one ever improved his life by sitting idle on the sidelines. It is certain that you can't arrive if you never start.nn
