Tradional MLM can be a very tough business, even for seasoned veterans. Purchasing geneology lists and making 200 calls a day to crappy leads can be both costly and ineffective (although this will definetly toughen you up). Then there's the old three foot rule, where you approach and engage anything with a pulse. Also the home parties with you drawing circles on a whiteboard for two people instead of the original ten you thought were showing up. Renting hotel event rooms. Handing out expensive info packs. Hovering around prey (i mean prospects) in a bookstore business section, preparing to make your move and start FORMing them for your pitch. Asking family and friends to join your little venture, etc.... the list goes on. That's how it used to be done. And it worked. rnThe fact is, that's no way to run a business today. But what if.... rnIntead of chasing and pitching people your oppurtunity, you can get them to WANT to go into business with you. In other words, you can be seen not as an annoying salesman but as a person of interest. Someone that people would like to know more about. Someone that attacts and draws people to them, like a rockstar. Someone of high VALUE. This is in my opinion not only the best way to do business, but the only way. The point is, nobody is interested in and could care less about whatever it is you are promoting. They care about one thing - themselves. You can talk a mile a minute, draw a thousand circles on a board and hand dozens and dozens of brochures, people will pick up on the idea that the you're only concerned about self. They see this as highway robbery in the making. You head off into the sunset with their hard earned cash, while they're left out in the cold with something they're are not even sure they wanted to begin with. rnYou have a great product...really? So what? Who's actually gonna benefit from it, me or you? rnI know what you're thinking. "But i do have a great product that will enhance and bring a better quality of life for most if not all of my customers (backed by lot's of great testimonials of course)". I'm sure you do. Lot's of marketers have good products. Lot's of marketers are promoting the same good product that you are. And there's the rub. Let's say you're promoting a product called "virilty vitamins", how would you stand out from everyone else in your company promoting the same thing? How would you stand out from your competitors in different companies with different products? If i need "virilty vitamins" and i am determined to get some, why should i care who in your company sells them to me just as long as i get them. As far as the oppurtunity goes, why should i believe the flyer on my car or the cheesy replicated website that this is a viable business to get into? Why is your biz-op better than their biz-op? For most people one program is indistinguishable from the next. Networkers appear to be impersonal drones, carrying out scripted routine. So, the question again is - how do you stand out from the crowd? Quite simple. Personal value. Your personal value is the KEY to the equation. The missing component that puts it altogether. People follow leaders because they offer tremendous value. You can see now that your goal should not be just casting a line and hoping something bites, but to position yourself as an authority in your market by developing real honest relationships with your prospects. There's a big difference from pursuing and being the pursued. Leaders are pursued. Do not concern yourself if you weren't born with these qualities (Most people aren't) because they can be developed. The top earner in your company may seem like a phenom, but he/she is really no different from you. They started off as a follower and built themselves up first by getting good mentorship and then by making themselves indespenasble in their community. You can do the same. Leadership is about becoming a better you through personal development. Seperate yourself from the rest of the pack - the ninety seven percenters, and step up to the three percent. rnA true leader. rnWhen a person chooses to team up with you and join your business, it is not so much as their believe in the product as it is their beleive in you. People will want to connect with you because of the intimate nature of the relationship you have built with them, whether through video, blogs or newsletters. A high level of trust is created because of your willingness to give and share your own experiences. This is how you build a business. Be willing to go the extra mile. Network with the top leaders in your industry and obtain exclusive information, read books, take courses and acquire new skill sets. Have more knowledge and leverage that knowledge through marketing to establish a position of leadership. Zig Ziglar wrote " you can have anything you want as long as help enough people get what they want". Make it about helping people, then you will see that YOU, not your product is the real asset.
