Your Power Living Life List (PLLL): How to Start

Over the past 30 plus years, I have had the privilege of working with a great many people from all walks of life. Despite the wide range of demographics I could categorize them all by saying every one of them would have benefited from establishing their own PLLL. Life is a journey, not unlike taking a very long car trip. Imagine taking this car journey without a road map. Every day you get up and you have no idea where you are going that day. Every day you have to try to find your way without a map, without any direction, without any idea if what you are doing and whether where you are going will be of any benefit to you that day. Sounds very stressful, doesn’t it? That picture is what 98% of people experience every day. It’s a depressing picture and one that takes a toll on all of us.

I’m reluctant to give you a solution that would seem to be a cure for all that ails you, but getting your self a PLLL would be on that list and at the top. If I took 1,000 people, at random off the street, sat them down and explained to them what a PLLL was and then asked them to work on establishing, organizing and using their own PLLL over the next 6 months, I would GUARANTEE that 98% of them would benefit greatly from the experience.

How would they start the process?

Today

Start today. Do not think about it, do not plan, organize, contemplate or theorize, just start. The fact that you think you are too busy, do not have the time today, today is a bad day, these are all reasons why you need to do this. They are not reasons not to do it. Perpetuating the same old bad habits, the same work ethic that has repeatedly let you down, doing the same routine that has not gotten you the results you want, does this sound like a recipe for success? That’s why today is a great day to start to create an environment that will enable you to regain control of your time, enable you to drive your own agenda for a change and to reduce your stress levels to a point where you can actually start to enjoy life.

A Little Goes a Long Way

Your PLLL, among many things, is going to be your personal road map for the rest of your life. It will lead you, guide you, and light the way for what you will be doing for as long as you are around. If that sounds like a daunting task, it is. If this sounds daunting, now imagine life with out a PLLL, without a road map. Having said this, the start is just that, a start. Today, you want to pull out a piece of paper or a spreadsheet, your choice, and start to make a list, a few notes, some random thoughts. What do you want to do from this day forward? This is not brain surgery; it’s a start of you actually thinking about what the next years of your life will be like.

This is not a test, there are no wrong or right answers, it’s your life and you will decide what goes on throughout it. The difference between before and now is that before there was no plan, no road map, no way of co-coordinating the myriad of things that will make up the contents of what you will be doing today and every day into your future. If you start today and put down just one thought about what you would like to do in the future, just one, you are now massively ahead of where you would have been without that one thought written down. The process of creating your own PLLL will be a daily one. One idea, thought, suggestion, reminder to yourself, as part of a daily routine, will have a powerfully positive impact on the rest of your life.

My advice is simple, start today, start small and add to your PLLL daily. I have always been a advocate for writing down your input to your PLLL. That has not changed. As time goes on, there will be times when you interact with your PLLL and it will not be in a written form. We will deal with those circumstances later. For now, have fun building your road map to your future.
