Dear High Achiever:nnTHE TIPPING POINT I’m about to talk about is personal. I say that right out of the chute to be clear that this FYI isn’t a book review of Malcolm Gladwell’s best-seller, The Tipping Point. Any references or similarities to what he wrote will be purely coincidental.nnSo now we’re clear; this Tipping Point is personal. It’s –nnYour Tipping Point. It’s when you are so fully immersed and passionate about what’s happening in your life that your focus, your daily thoughts and actions become a self-perpetuating catalyst.nnIt’s more than just a breakthrough. It’s the sum of your accumulated positive actions, which creates a personal transformation that catapults you to a much higher level of consciousness and understanding of yourself and the world around you.nnThink of the playground of your youth. You start out on the see-saw with one side at a completely opposite place from the other. Someone is low down and someone is high up. Then change begins … there’s movement … and begin to reach a balance … then you get to the Tipping Point where there’s an equilibrium then …nnWow! It’s a Tipping Point because once you reach it and when you pass it things change amazingly.nnAnd unlike the see-saw, passing Your Personal Tipping Point prevents you from ever going back to your former self.nnI bet you’ve had a personal experience, in business, with your physicality or your finances, or in a relationship, when you said I’m never going back or I’ll never be in that that situation again. But unfortunately, the very next year, you found yourself in the wrong job, over- weight again, in a bad relationship or deeper in debt. You probably didn’t reach Your Tipping Point.nnI understand that circumstances and life happen, but when you reach Your Tipping Point a set-back isn’t as devastating and your come-backs are much grander. You could also call this a –nnPositive “Point of No Return.” When you really pass a Personal Tipping Point any thoughts of failure are gone. You focus and are only aware of outcomes … how to improve them … create the ones you desire … and get closer to mastery.nnYou may be thinking of references like, “being in the groove” or “in the zone.” After you experience Your Tipping Point, you are constantly in the zone or in the groove.nnAll good, right? But it gets even better.nnReaching Your Tipping Point in one area of your life has a profound effect on other areas of your life.nnThere are countless examples of people who’ve experienced a Tipping Point. Perhaps you’ve experienced it personally or with people in your life and didn’t have a name for it. You, or they, had a breakthrough, were doing exceptionally well for a couple of years and then all of sudden they catapulted to a much higher level of success.nnOn the world stage, I think of someone likennTiger Woods. He conditions his body and his mind with a more disciplined approach than anyone else in his profession. Result: He quickly began performing and winning consistently at the highest level of professional competition. He obviously experienced tremendous success years ago. That was his Tipping Point. In his mind he would never settle for less than winning and demanded personal peak performance.nnAnd look what else happens. His success in the world of professional golf spills over and creates success in many other areas in his life. Obviously his finances, his relationships and the endless opportunities he is offered. I’ve had the good fortune of being in his presence a few years ago and I could literally feel his focus and intensity radiating from him. Quite an amazing experience.nn“So Eric,” you ask, “how do I get that kind of focus and intensity?”nnYou certainly don’t have to be a celebrity, a professional athlete, a scholar or run a multi-million dollar business to experience Your Tipping Point.nnFYI ACTION IDEA: Your Tipping Point refers to what’s personally acceptable to you, what you are no longer willing to tolerate, and where you’ve set a higher standard and level of excellence for yourself. You consistently make better, more calculated choices and decisions.nnFYI IDEA IN ACTION: You must stay alert and watch for Your Tipping Point. You must look for and know your “Why.” Then you must build the skills that support you in the pursuit of that “Why.”nnYou’ll know when you’ve reached Your Tipping Point because there is a new air of certainty and purpose in your demeanor and in your mind-set. Your newfound confidence becomes the bridge to gain control in other critical areas of your life.nnFurther, reaching Your Tipping Point in any one area helps you become more cognizant of what you need to do to experience a Tipping Point in the other areas. Your clarity and overall vision and understanding of self, helps you orchestrate Your Tipping Point in the other areas of your life.nnIt’s a life-long undertaking. But it’s worth it. Reaching Your Tipping Point works like compounded daily interest but in terms of personal development. When you continually invest in learning and growing in critical areas of your life you will experience Your Tipping Point and will be paid huge dividends for your discipline and focus.nnGo Out and Make This Your Best Year Ever!
