Only this time around, the bridge of heart to heart connections (as I call it), between the Americans and the people of Panama was about giving thanks for friendship, while having fun. Our bridge of heart to heart connections was similar in spirit, to the one that the Americans had created many years before, with hard work and s

***Ground Yourself In Gratitutde
Among my memories of growing up is a clear black and white picture of a Korean mother squatting next to her small son surrounded by barren, devastated countryside. The caption unde eath reads, "Where will their food come from now?" Printed by our Sunday "journal" during the Korean War, the picture made me feel sad that these people didn't have any food and lucky that I was born in America and did not have to worry about food. In fact, it never occurred to me to even think abo

Have you ever caught yourself vigorously complaining about something you felt you couldn't do anything about? Have you ever told yourself you needed to quit complaining, only to find yourself in the same old complaining scenario the very next day? The Gift of Gratitude
Every time someone said something nice to me or did something nice for me, my Mother would pose the question, "what do you say?" She made it easy for me to remember to say thank you, and created the habit I still have today. I chuckle when I hear other parents prompt their children, remembering my Mother's kindness and her intention to teach me good manners. It wasn't until many years later that I realized I had learned to say thank you at a very young age but I didn't know a

THOUGHTS FROM EILEEN AND KATHERINE:
Words of thanks can change our thoughts, and by changing our thoughts, we can change our lives. Through the eyes of gratitude we open our hearts and bring joy into our lives. Everything is an opportunity for us to expand, to learn, to grow, and to love. When we realize how much there is to be thankful for and recognize the ways we are already blessed, we feel closer to God. When we feel gratitude for each moment, we enrich our souls.

Other highlights
Gratitude Works is more than a pretty book to set on the shelf - it's a book to be used. This collection of three hundred and sixty-five short stanzas explores what we have to be grateful for in our lives. Each day focuses on one main thought, and the four lines that follow expand on that thought. The book can be read from beginning to end or opened at any page and used as a daily guide. It takes you through the seasons of the years month by month and inspires you to think of the things in your own life that you are grateful for.
Gratitude Works helps us stay in the present moment by being grateful for what we have now rather than dwelling on the past or dreaming into the future. It helps us learn to stop taking so much for granted. It reminds us to give thanks before our prayers are answered knowing that the blessings will come. When we realize how much there is to be thankful for and recognize the ways we are already blessed, we feel closer to God. When we feel gratitude for each moment, we enrich our souls.
