To escape retirement on welfare and starting with nothing I describe how I was able to build equity at well over several million dollars while continuing to teach public school. Happily I was rewarded with the privilege of teaching children for 30 years and my classroom adventures are included within these pages. My book is dedicated to the public school teacher. Each year hundreds of thousands of able and experienced teachers are fleeing from the classrooms of our own schools. This is happening at a time when such instructors are desperately needed especially when the national achievement record our public schools is so abysmal. As noted in my introduction to my book my main purpose in writing my memoirs was an attempt to identify my own experiences those of other teachers. Hopefully in that manner through inspiration for my challenges and successes as a public school teacher and real estate investor, I hope to rekindle the flame of optimism and dedication to children that must still remain in the hearts of those who chose to teach but who now are uncertain of their future in Education. During 30 years of service as a secondary teacher in Los Angeles I was assigned to the following different neighborhoods --1. Disadvantaged area where the student body consisted primarily of minority students 2. Typical middle-class area of Americana.3-economically advantaged area and one of the highest rated income areas in Los Angeles. My experience included chairman of English and social studies -- assigned classes denoted as remedial, average and gifted -- on several occasions I was invited to lecture at UCLA to demonstrate my teaching activities and ideas with noted success -- supervisory training teacher for students from UCLA -- assigned to Jr. high, senior high and adult education classes. College background included AA from UCLA -- BA from UC Berkeley -- Masters degree from University of Southern Califo ia. In addition to the academic record above I passed the Califo ia State real estate examination and for 50 years I was licensed as a real estate broker= although I obtained experience as an active real estate broker my main goal was building a personal portfolio of income-producing property.
