Thomas Johnson Quick Facts

Mr. Johnson began his training in 1985 at the Delaware Budokan. In 1986 he became a lifetime member of the American Independent Tae Kwon Do Federation. He began teaching in 1988 and, while in basic training for the U.S. Army at Fort Benning, GA., he was asked to assist with hand-to-hand combat training instruction. During Operation Desert Shield, while assigned to the 82nd Airbo e Division, he organized and conducted a regular karate class for interested personnel. Also during Desert Shield, he designed a close quarters hand-to-hand combat program for the troops of his battalion. From April 1992 to April 1994 he was a member of the American Independent Karate Instructors Association. In 2002 he became a member of the Chikurin Ha Heki Ryu and, in August 2004 he became a member of the Kenjutsu International Association of Instructors. In addition, Mr. Johnson was the editor for the Kenjutsu International Association of Instructors Online Magazine in 2006. In August 2006 he re-entered military service by re-enlisting into the Army National Guard. In March 2007 Mr. Johnson became a member of the International Hoplology Society. In May 2007 Mr. Johnson became a member of the Governor's Ten in Pistol competition.



Mr. Johnson is also a Personal Trainer and a member of the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM). Mr. Johnson writes articles on Health & Fitness, Personal Safety, and Martial Arts for local and international publications.
