10 Interview Mistakes That Could Cost You the Job

Getting an interview is not an easy feat. Don't let go of a gleaming job opportunity by avoiding these 10 interview mistakes. These mistakes are so common that we hardly even acknowledge making them.
1. Stepping in unprepared
Never go for an interview unprepared. We have heard it enough. In this world of easy accessibility, it would be a grave mistake to step up clueless.
2. Arriving late
It creates a degrading image if you cannot show up on time. You cannot control the almost contingent emergency. But showing up late because of traffic reasons is an absolute no. Be there at the place of interview, at least 10 minutes in advance.
3. Lying
Never lie in an interview. Probably, your interviewer has already checked you on social media platforms. Besides, never present false information on a resume. It's worst when an interviewer finds such lies and in most cases they do.
4. Inappropriate body gestures
Firm handshakes, steady posture, eye contact are amongst the things that create an environment of friendly demeanour. Don't be sluggish and all slump while appearing for an interview.
5. Not asking questions
Not speaking or asking anything at all is a very bad sign. You come across as disinterested in the job. Ask questions and show involvement. Let an interviewer know that you are excited for the interview, even when there are high chances of you rejecting their offer.
6. Talking badly about a present or former employer
Don't speak foul about your employers and colleagues in past. It's a big and absolute no. The interviewer is likely to turn you down for the way you speak about your past employer.
7. Being too shy and doubtful
When you are being called for an interview, the interviewer wishes to see the potential traits that could lead to hiring decision. How can you expect an interviewer to trust your skills if you are too dubious and doubtful? Being nervous is normal but what isn't normal is your doubtful and shy behavior in an interview.
8. Being too overconfident
Just like being too dubious is dangerous for your dream job, being overconfident can instantly arouse disinterest in an interview. Don't undermine yourself but also don't keep singing your praises.
9. Resume errors
No one expects you to be at a creative 100 level while designing your resume. Yet, you surely can avoid spelling and grammar errors and could create a readable attractive document for yourself. Avoid small teeny tiny errors to avoid coming across as careless and negligent.
10. Inappropriate appearance
Like they say, dress for the job. The least you could do is put on a tidy pair of ironed clothes and groom your hair and face a bit. Always remember, your appearance and overall personality do make for a first impression.
Avoid these tiny errors to not lose a job you've worked so hard to get an interview for.
