Privacy Policy

DRAFT — approved only as the Phase 3C implementation baseline, not external counsel sign-off. Legal controller, mailing address, and privacy contact remain visible placeholders until Roger/counsel configures them.

Who is responsible for your information

Controller/business entity: [Roger/counsel to provide legal entity name]

Mailing address: [Roger/counsel to provide]

Privacy contact: [configure NEXT_PUBLIC_SELFGROWTH_PRIVACY_CONTACT_EMAIL or privacy request URL]

Information we collect

  • Account and authentication information: email address, authentication identifiers, session information, account type, admission status, role assignments, and temporary passwordless-login context cookies.
  • Profile, contributor, content, and event information: professional display name, headline, bios, website URL, profile assets, topics, submitted content, event descriptions, public venue/location information, URLs, and review status.
  • Communications and privacy requests: contact details, request type, request details, verification status, and records needed to respond and document the request.
  • Usage, security, and request information: limited technical metadata used to operate, secure, debug, and improve the service. Optional analytics/marketing technologies are controlled through cookie settings and must not run before consent.
  • Optional nearby-event search inputs: if you choose current-location search, your browser location is used once to estimate future events near you. You can instead type a city, state, ZIP/postal code, or place. SelfGrowth does not save precise searcher coordinates to accounts, profiles, ratings, analytics, or marketing systems in this Phase 5 design.
  • Legacy/imported records: legacy content, contributor, attribution, audience-contact, and aggregate metrics records used only for migration, attribution, compliance, suppression, and approved operational purposes unless a separate source/consent review permits another use.

How we use information

  • provide, authenticate, secure, and operate SelfGrowth;
  • create, review, publish, update, and moderate profiles, content, topics, guides, and events;
  • process admissions, official-guide requests, and staff/editorial workflows;
  • respond to support, privacy, correction, attribution, and removal requests;
  • prevent fraud, spam, abuse, and unauthorized access;
  • maintain audit trails for security, dispute handling, and operational integrity;
  • measure aggregate service performance and content usage only where permitted by consent or an approved minimized design;
  • comply with legal obligations and enforce terms.

Cookies and similar technologies

Strictly necessary cookies support authentication, security, passwordless-login flows, and remembering privacy choices. Optional analytics, preferences, or marketing cookies are controlled by the cookie banner/settings and are not required for core site features.

Browser geolocation permission is separate from cookie consent. Rejecting optional cookies does not block manual nearby-event search, and Phase 5 does not store a geolocation cookie or localStorage location preference by default.

Read the Cookie Policy or open Cookie settings from the footer.

Sharing and processors

SelfGrowth does not sell personal information in the ordinary meaning of selling it for money, and does not use cross-context behavioral advertising unless explicitly disclosed and enabled through appropriate consent controls.

Expected processor categories include hosting/CDN, database/authentication/storage, transactional email, observability/error logging, and optional analytics. Vendor names and links remain pending Roger/counsel approval.

Retention

Default retention targets include short-lived login-context cookies (15 minutes), consent choices (about 180 days or until policy changes), security logs (typically 30–90 days unless tied to an investigation), privacy request records (typically 24 months after closure), and profile/content records while the account/content relationship or publication purpose remains active.

Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, know, correct, delete, export, restrict, object to, withdraw consent, opt out, or appeal certain privacy decisions.

To make a request, visit Privacy Requests. Production exports, deletions, or corrections are not automatic and require identity verification, dry-run review, and explicit approval before any production action.

Sensitive topics and no emergency use

SelfGrowth may include self-improvement, wellness, mental-health-adjacent, financial, relationship, spiritual, or similar content. SelfGrowth is not an emergency, medical, therapy, legal, or financial advisory service.
