This is the secret of success”. ~ Swami Sivananda When we continue to have experiences which in our mind are perceived as stressful or unproductive, we begin to program our mind in believing this is what we can expect. Once this happens, we start the process of creating and accentuating this reality in our daily lives. Many people anticipate a stressful day the moment they wake up or in some cases, the night before. It is for this reason the feelings of discontentment on a Sunday evening or the last day of our fabulous holiday are commonly felt. Because individuals continually send messages to their brain of discontentment or stress, their mind begins to focus on this reality, thus creating the result. When we remain focused on all the reasons for our having a bad day, we reinforce our beliefs and expectations thus, a vicious cycle in the mind of what we want versus what we are allowed to have, forms. This makes it a challenge to break free from the daily routine of frustration, stress and lack of motivation. Below is a list of actions one can take to break the cycle of negativity to form new patterns and expectations within the mind. By doing this, one can begin to notice the positive things, deal with stress in a healthier manner, build stronger relationships and know they are successful and productive each and every day. 10 Steps to Create a Productive and Successful Day rn1. When you wake up, choose to have a productive day. Think or say out loud “I choose to have a good day!”rn2. While driving, turn on your favourite music and sing your heart outrn3. When you first arrive at work look at your colleague and say “Good morning...Today is a good day!” If they ask “why?” answer “Because I chose it to be!”rn4. Before you begin, prioritize what you would like to accomplish then write your “goal list”rn5. When you finish a task, tick it on your “goal list” with a check markrn6. Give someone a genuine compliment rn7. Remember two questions “What’s one thing I can do for you?” and “What’s one thing I can do for me?” When you know the answer, do them.rn8. Before you head home for the day, look at your “goal list” and see the check marks!rn9. As you head home, listen to music and tap to the beat or sing your heart outrn10. When you arrive at home announce “I’m home...let the celebrations begin!” When we begin to break free from the habits and routines of having stressful days, we create a shift in our conscious thoughts and our subconscious beliefs. This then begins the process of a much healthier lifestyle, mentally, physically and emotionally. To keep moving you forward, remember to be consciously aware of the changes happening in your life. From the way people react and converse with you to the amount of work you were able to accomplish on your To-Do list. By doing so, it keeps feeding your mind the positive aspects of your day allowing your brain to form new habits and beliefs.
