The subject of cables is one of the most controversial topics in the world of hi-fi and home cinema, especially when it comes to quality and price. Yet there are a number of simple tips that we all have something to offer and with which you realize an organized and well-functioning home cinema system. In this article we put 10 tips for the cabling of your home cinema system. 1. Find a free space: If you are building a home theater system from the ground up, and perhaps adjusting your entire space accordingly, make sure that the cables can be neatly concealed. Think of laying the cabling in the walls, behind plinths or under a floor. 2. Make sure you know the length of each cable: rnThis requires a layout of your setup and you need to know the distances between the parts to be connected. It is a shame to buy more cable than you need, and that applies to both speaker cables and audio and video cables. However, give cables some space so that your equipment can still pull forward or a speaker can move something. 3. Provide an organized cable management system: Easy said; do not let it become spaghetti on cables. Tie-rips (also called cable ties) are your best friend in this area. Make sure that your cables are neatly tied together without putting them under tension. 4. Keep them Away: It is important to keep the power cables as far away as possible from the (analogue) audio and video cables. These can cause interference. In the setup of your home theater system, try to ensure that the power cables, for example, turn close to the equipment in order to go towards the power strip (or another outlet) and the other cables will be farther away from the equipment and distributed. You can also let the power cables run down directly while the other cables turn left or right at a slightly higher level. 5. Label your cables: We often encounter enough home cinema systems that are not only equipped with spaghetti cables but also have no labels at all. Give each cable a label so that you immediately know which cable to replace, move or check. With receivers, labels are often supplied so that you can easily cable the loudspeaker cables (where it is often unclear which one is exactly where to go). For the other cabling you can make simple labels yourself. 6. Try to avoid extremely long HDMI cables: For HDMI, the longer the cable, the greater the chance of disturbances in the image. These failures are incidentally good so you know immediately if the distance is too big. Although Data Wire Solutions advise not to purchase expensive HDMI cables, it is wise to buy better cables when you have to work over longer distances (5 meters or longer). An HDMI transmitter and receiver for a wireless connection are also possible. 7. Remove cables that are not needed: We have seen this too many times; home cinema systems with a maze of cables half of which are not even used. For example, you only need one HDMI cable to connect a Blu-ray player. The use of the digital audio outputs is therefore not necessary. Of course, this differs per situation, so we advise you to read our article about connecting your home theater system. 8. Spend Carefully: Do not spend more on cables than the amount you spent on equipment. This is a generally applicable rule, and for the average home cinema system we would even advise to stay far below this. 9. Take the time We understand that you want to get started with your equipment as quickly as possible, but in many cases things are overlooked, connected too quickly or not connected properly, so the enjoyment quickly turns into frustration. It pays to take your time and read yourself, install everything properly, choose the right cables, connect everything correctly and test every connection. It takes a while, but then you can enjoy your equipment without worries. 10. Use cable systems or cable ducts for your cabling: Not everyone can use cables in the wall or remove everything perfectly in a piece of furniture. Fortunately, there are also sufficient simple solutions to organize cables neatly and neatly. Many TVs or studios work with Data Wire Solutions and have good cable management system so that you can neatly remove the cables to the TV on the back and use the foot to carry other components or the plug. There are also various wall brackets with cable management system for sale and you can put a cable tray against the wall for a tight finish. The eye also wants something, but in addition, a well-organized cable structure definitely pays off in the future when replacing or relocating.
