Everyone loves strong and healthy teeth. Teeth that are white and shining and complement a beautiful smile. Read on to find 10 ways you can keep your teeth strong, healthy and white.

Brush Daily, Twice A Day

Plaque and Bacteria are two of the most common causes associated with teeth problems. Brushing first thing in morning as you get out of bed removes bacteria and plaque that gets accumulated during the night. Brushing without fail after dinner before you sleep is a habit that will keep your teeth healthy for a long time. It will remove the plaque and bacteria that may have built up during the day. Brushing correctly is as important as brushing regularly. Use a soft brush, hold it at a 45 degree angle and brush in circular motion gently, so that it penetrates and clean your teeth and also massages your tongue.

Clean Your Tongue Everyday

Not just your teeth but your tongue also accumulates bad bacteria resulting in more harm than just bad breath. Don’t forget to clean your tongue every morning. Use a tongue scraper to effectively clean your tongue of plaque and stay fresh throughout the day.

Replace Your Toothbrush Frequently

Have you been using the same toothbrush for a year? Your toothbrush inevitably accumulates bacteria that gets transferred to your mouth IF you don’t clean your toothbrush before and after brushing and don’t change it every 3 months. Therefore, clean your toothbrush daily and replace it every 3 months or so to keep your teeth healthy.

Floss Your Teeth Daily

Flossing daily will help you get those sticky micro food particles and calculus out of those areas of your teeth where your toothbrush cannot enter. Use a floss daily and correctly and you will have strong white teeth.

Adopt A ‘Healthy Teeth’ Diet

It is the most important contributor to your teeth health. Eating right and healthy will make not just your teeth healthy and strong, it will make you healthy all over. But to begin with teeth, adopt foods in your daily diet that are green, raw and full of fibre. Foods like apple, celery, carrots will help clean your teeth naturally, or in other words, act as nature’s toothbrush.

Avoid or Limit Acidic And Sugary Diet

Acidic drinks like soft drinks, soda, alcohol and foods such as cakes, donuts, chocolates do serious and regular (incase you are addicted to that small piece of dessert after a meal) damage to your teeth. Avoid drinking anything with your meals. And stay light on the sweet tooth, if you want to have your teeth intact when you get old. In any case, after you take any of these, remember to flush and clean your mouth thoroughly with water immediately afterwards.

Say No to Very Hot And Very Cold Drinks

Your mouth is meant to accept foods and drinks at a certain temperature. Eating or drinking anything too hot or too cold/frozen damages your teeth, corrodes tooth enamel and exposes dentin. Eat and drink stuff that is at a moderate temperature and is healthy for your teeth, to keep them strong and healthy.

Gargle Daily

Gargling daily in the morning and night keeps your mouth free of bacteria and fresh. Use a natural agent like apple cider vinegar to gargle, as it removes teeth stains, kills the bacteria in your mouth and also helps whiten teeth.

Keep your Mouth Fresh

You can also use a mouth freshener to gargle daily. In that case, select a mouth freshener that is alcohol-free and low on sweetness. Too much alcohol dries out the mouth tissues. Practice gargling with it daily and regularly.

Get a Dental Check-up regularly

Last but not the least, with competitive fast lifestyles, we end up compromising on many of these practices. A regular trip to your dentist for a teeth check-up keeps a tab on your teeth health and saves you trouble later on.
