When it comes to fertility, there are many preconceived notions among people. Newly wedded couples often get advice about trying for a baby right after they get married to try having a baby at the ‘right' age to avoid any problems. While the couples facing infertility who are already troubled, keep getting many suggestions and ideas to go through certain home remedies or specific fertility treatments to conceive a baby. rnThere are many myths pertaining to fertility that many people don't know. Here's an attempt to bring everything that people need to know about fertility: 1. The biggest myth that has always existed is that women are the one who is infertile. While men and women both can be infertile. Men with low sperm count or a low mobility rate face infertility. While women with a blocked fallopian tube, disorderly eggs, and weak uterus face infertility issues. 2. Addition to smoking or drinking leads to infertility. This is majorly reflected in men due to low sperm count. Passive smoking is equally harmful. 3. Your lifestyle affects your pregnancy: Well, in the recent years the percentage of infertile couples is very high. Some studies suggest that one out of eight couples face infertility. This increase is evident due to a change in lifestyle. 4. Infertility is a disease. Well, many couple who are unable to conceive through the natural process is treated as if they are running through some grave disease. Infertility is not a disease that stays, and it is just an inability to conceive through natural coitus. There can be smaller issues, be it with men or women, which can be treated by a course of medication. rn5. Infertility arises when female crosses 30 years of her life. Infertility is a condition which does not ‘arise' but is there. It prevails in women irrespective of the age. 6. More the age of the women more tedious is the infertility treatment complexity and duration. To some extent this is correct. Although infertility does not arise due to increasing age, the response of the body to treatments declines with age. The ideal age to get treated for infertility is when the women are nearing her thirties. rn7. If a woman is fertile, and it is the man who is infertile, there are fertility treatments for it too. There is medication that increases the sperm count and mobility. But this treatment's duration is lesser and simpler as compared to treating infertile women. 8. The tests for infertility involve high costs and are complex is somehow a common understanding. It is extremely incorrect. There are simple tests like sperms tests in men and blood tests in a female that can quickly reveal if the sperms are incapable or whether the egg count is normal. 9. There are conditions where both, the male and the female are fertile with all the reports showing normal results and the couple is still unable to conceive. This is a little difficult for the society to digest that there can be cases with no reasons for not getting pregnant when everything is normal. 10. One believes that needs to end right now is that ‘A surrogate mother is the biological mother of the child.' Well, surrogacy is an In vitro fertilization technique in which the eggs from the woman and the sperms from the man are taken to form an embryo in a laboratory and the inseminated in the surrogate's uterus for the next nine months until the baby is delivered. In cases where the infertility problem is with the woman's eggs, then the surrogate mother's sperms can be used. And it is in this case that the surrogate mother is the biological mother of the child. 11. Taking IVF treatments multiple times is not the cure for infertility. The IVF treatment is an alternative to couple to get a baby of their own. IVF is a one-time process. As described earlier, the embryo is inserted in the mother or the surrogate mother. It is a one-time chance, if it fails, the only way to conceive is to repeat the whole process. 12. Being overweight, irregular menstrual cycles, endocrine disorders, endometriosis, uterine fibroids, and polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) are some of the conditions in women that lead to infertility. While in men, Weight issues, Hormone disorders, previous trauma to the genital area, varicose veins around the testicles, thyroid problems, and diabetes may be the reasons of infertility. Stressful life, irregular diet, wrong eating habits and sometimes rigorous exercise or no exercise at all are the reasons for infertility common to both the genders. rnInfertility is a difficult phase for a couple to go through and it is necessary to get your facts right when the couple is dealing with infertility or is looking to adapt to some medicated option to treat infertility. Whatever the reason for infertility maybe, a couple can sail towards a happier time only with each other's support.
