But the spread of Olympics in the world started after 1894 when Olympics began to be conducted by IOC or the International Olympic Committee. Olympics occur as a winter and summer sports competition which involves a number of games. The winter and summer sports alternate each other with a gap of two years in between them. However like seasons sports competition occur every four year. Olympic Games did not occur in 1916, 1940 and 1944 due to the two world wars. Also in the years 1980 and 1984 these games witnessed a very limited participation due to the cold war between two major nations of the world at the time.
