Everyone has a dream. Everyone has the ability to imagine what life can be like. We all wonder or “wish I could” do things. Yet many people continue to place that dream aside and go with the flow of everyday life. If you are someone who is ready to do something different or incorporate something new in your life, here are some things to consider.

When I begin to consider my dream I ask myself three important questions.

1. What is my dream?

Because we are habitual beings doing the same things day in and day out, this question stumps many people. When s/he becomes so accustomed to a lifestyle, good or bad, positive or negative, s/he begins to believe that that is what life is all about. It becomes accepted in the mind making it difficult to answer this question.

If you are someone who perceives a challenge with this question here’s what you can do. Ask yourself “what am I passionate about?” or “What topic do I like discussing which gives me excitement?” Notice the pattern in your life that you gravitate toward then ask “what can I do to make this more prominent in my life?” Once you have the answer know this, it is very important to be precise and focused. Write down in detail what it is. Then move onto the next question.

2. Is it a priority?

Rate this on a scale from 1 – 10. If it is less than a 1 (most important) procrastination tends to set in. Again people fall back to the same routines or focus on excuses as to the reason it is unattainable. To create an action plan and follow through, the dream must be a priority.

3. What am I doing to get it?!

It is important to meet your dream in the middle. Every day, with every focused step you are moving in the right direction to make it a reality. If a person sits back and waits, s/he might become a pro at patience. S/he would also be someone who thinks “would have been nice.”

This process works really well for me and for many of my clients. A dream to an individual, if important enough, is always big because it is they who are experiencing it and feeling all the emotions with it. Rather than the size of the dream, ask these questions. By doing so you may surprise yourself and move out of the “same old, same old” comfort zone!
