We can use positive affirmations to influence or even override our habitual patterns of thought. Many of us have been largely conditioned in the way we think since young. We believed what was told to us by our parents and caregivers. We simply accepted them without question. Over time, the thoughts become hardwired. Problem occurs when the thoughts are largely negative or not even true in the first place. We find ourselves in constant self-sabotage because of our internal self talk. Our self sabotage makes it hard for us to achieve success or gain breakthroughts in our adult life. Well, to change the inner scripts we have, we can consider affirming new and more empowering beliefs about ourselves.
Studies reveal that an average person has 40,000 to 60,000 thoughts every day. Since we cannot not think, it will be a great idea to focus our energy on more positive thinking. Whether we hope to manifest wealth or attract a new relationship, positive affirmations can help us change the way we think and to shift our mental paradigm.
So how do you get started? The first thing that you have to do is to identify what your negative thoughts are. Examples of negative thoughts may include “I am not smart enough”, “I don’t deserve this”, “I am ugly”, and more. These thoughts cause you to be emotionally down. You feel upset, angry, fearful, depressed or worried about your future. Hence, to identify what thoughts you hold, tune in to your feelings. Ask yourself if you are feeling positive or negative when you think of something. Your emotions can provide you with great insights to what is going on in your subconscious.
There are certain rules that you need to follow for success in positive affirmations:
1. The words that you use in your affirmations should be positive.Your subconscious minds do not know how to distinguish between positive and negative words but it can associate an emotion with it. An example to illustrate this are the words stated on the statements above such as “not”, “don’t”, and “ugly” which will automatically trigger a negative response from your subconscious mind.
2. Repetition helps. So say your positive affirmations at least three times a day. Make your affirmations an automatic way of thinking for you! By repeating affirmations in a positive manner, you create the right mindset to attract success in everything that you do!
3. To change a habit requires 21 days of focused energy. Hence, say your positive affirmations for a continuous 21 days. If you find yourself forgetting in-between the required number of days, start all over again.
While there can be many people who go about searching on the internet for positive affirmations for their own use, it should be noted that the affirmations that are most effective comes from those that we write ourselves. So take some time to write affirmations that are personal and unique to your life situation. Let positive affirmations assist you in bringing forward your goals and dreams to a more prosperous life!
