Diabetes is a deadly disease as it adversely affects the entire body which also involves the oral condition. It is more important for diabetes patients to have a special dental care because they encounter more risky situation related to oral health than normal cases. The control of blood sugar gets poor and so gives an enormous amount of increase to the oral health problems. Actually in worse diabetes white blood cells gets weaker triggering various infections to attack on the body and mouth as well. White blood cells are the main defense of our body. There are some higher risks that diabetes patient face related to oral health.

The typical problem found with diabetes patients is the dryness of mouth as it decreases saliva flow. Also dry mouth may give birth to other problems as well like soreness in mouth, tooth decay, ulcers and infections. All of these problems impacts negatively on the overall health of the body including the oral cavity. It is quite necessary to control sugar at the initial stage as after a certain limit diabetes becomes uncontrolled creating lots of problem for the doctors to treat.

The other problem that can be called the second sign is the gum inflammation diseases which include gingivitis and periodontitis namely. This happens because with the weakening of white blood cells the other impediment diabetes creates is the thickening of blood vessels which slows down the nutrients stream to body tissues and slow down waste products from body tissues which includes the oral cavity as well. After the attacks of these problems body loses its ability to fight against infections. It is a fact that periodontal disease is known as a hard bacterial infection and for diabetes patients it becomes more worse as this disease occurs frequently with more severity level as a gum disease.

It is seen that diabetics lose their immune system strength with a gradual decay and so this affects their healing power including oral tissues as well. Poor healing of wounds after a oral surgery or other dental procedure will be experienced as the bleeding does not stop early. Diabetics who use antibiotics repeatedly in case of other infections like throat or chest may develop a severe fungus infection in the mouth and tongue region as well. This fungus develops on the saliva of diabetes patients which contains enormous amount of sugar.

Many patients are tested in the labs of dental schools for the diagnosis of any other problem that is caused by the diabetes problem as it gives birth to new diseases within the body after weakening the white blood cells. In an American school of dental almost 70% of the students are found with gum disease germs which were transferred to them from diabetics mostly as there were more of them in the testing centers.

Most of the medical universities who follow proper standards do not let such things happen in their school for dentistry to keep their students safe and do their researches work perfectly
